Hi, I’m Shanna. I’m the photographer behind Phoenix Sage Photography.
I’m drawn to photographs that feel lived-in rather than staged—the quiet connection between a horse and its person, a senior completely comfortable being themselves, wind catching someone’s hair, dusty boots, laughter that wasn’t planned, and the little moments you didn’t realize mattered until you saw them frozen in a photograph.
Living in rural Montana has shaped the way I see the world and the stories I’m drawn to photograph. Animals, agriculture, Western life, wide-open spaces, and the people connected to them will always have a special place in my work.
But most of all, I want the people in front of my camera to feel comfortable enough to simply be themselves.
